June 1 June 2 June 3 Green Achiever

Stor-a-File’s fleet are all less than 3 years old and are regularly serviced to ensure that they are running at optimum efficiency at all times. We regularly review our transport policy to ensure that it is in line with our environmental policy, which is why we try to ensure that we have environmentally friendly fit for purpose vehicles with low CO2 emissions and efficient fuel consumption. Our drivers do multi-drops on specified routes and we actively encourage clients to batch order archives, where possible. We also have Verilocation systems fitted to all of our delivery vehicles, allowing us to monitor and maximise the fuel efficiency of each vehicle and driver. Stor-a-File work with our box suppliers to ensure that our flatpack boxes are environmentally friendly.

Our most popular 1.4 cu ft box is made from:-
  • Outer Liner – 70% virgin fibre, 30% recycled
  • Fluting – 100% recycled
  • Inside Liner – 100% recycled
  • The total recycled content of the box is over 70%

The acquisition of a new Storage Site in Corby has allowed us to implement some of the environmental principles that we are set to put in place throughout our other sites. Our most notable achievement is the installation of an energy efficient lighting system; all of the warehouse lights are set on 10 minute timers that are triggered by individual infra-red motion sensors. Store your boxes with us and we’ll plant some trees for everyone.

Uniquely amongst UK storage companies, the Stor-a-File group own 167 acres of farmland and have planted over 2,500 native species trees in this land since 2005. Our objective is to plant a new tree for every 100 boxes stored to help offset our carbon footprint. The trees are located in the East Midlands and any of our clients are welcome to view and appreciate them.

Carbon Footprint Calculations

Our Carbon Footprint calculator says that we should plant 230 trees per year to offset our carbon footprint at its current level. We have planted 2,500 native species since 2005 and hope to continue in this ambitious environmental activity.
